Well, I'm a freak, and like to scar some of my
roleplay playbys. So it's very easy. You just need to
know how to use the LAYER MASK.
Here's what we're making:
So here we go, my GIMP-ers!
____________________________________________________________________
001. - Grab this photo of David Tennant. Or use
another you like, I'd rather you do that. Crop it and
all that razzamatazz you'd like to do, just keep it
monotone! I cropped mine to 320 by 480. Merge to the
background if you made a new layer.
002. - Open a new layer [ctrl + shift + n] and select a
fuzzy brush. ALWAYS THE FUZZY BRUSH. Make sure you make
it the size you want your scar to be and draw on your
model in WHITE.
so far.
003. - LAYER MASK TIME! I, myself have troubles with
Layer Mask. So I'll show you how I do it. So, right
click your mouse on the scar layer. You should get this,
follow what the image says. A pop-up should appear.
Click the button for BLACK TRANSPARENCY than the
ADD button. This should appear.
004. - Continuing step three... Time to erase over the
scar! Still using the fuzzy brush, click the PENCIL
tool. Still using WHITE, brush over
where you placed your scar. To tidy it up on the layer
Mask, switch to black and make sure you get everywhere
that isn't the scar if you erased a lot.
so far.
005. - Next go to your Filters up top, Select Blur ->
Gaussian Blur. A pop-up shows up, click on HORIZONTAL
and type in the number 15. Click the Vertical and 15
automatically appears. Hit OK.
006. - Next click the Dodge/Burn tool, or [shift + D].
Still on the mask, run to tool over your scar. This
lightens the scar up for further usage.
007. - Time to blend the scar in! Taking the Paint-Brush
tool, set your color to 731231. Follow
this image's setting in the toolbox. Brush over
the scar, and it should look more like your model's skin
colour.
008. - Duplicate the first layer and put the newest
layer's settings to BURN. Merge your BURN layer down to
the first and head up to you Colours up top. Click on
Curves. Try and get as close as you can to the point x:89, y:98
009. - Last step! Take your Blur tool and blur over the
scar. Merge your layers all together and you're done!
Now, you can tweak this all you want to make it fit how
you want. Enjoy!
END RESULT!
I hope I helped, and I'd love to see some results!
