Well, I promised a very good mate of mine I'd
try out a SKIN-ONLY colourization tut. Bare with me?
I usually don't do many tuts. This also works on
making a person have Auburn-ish hair! This is a simple
little thing, really. But it works! This could be
translatable, but I'm not sure. I only have GIMP, so
who knows, right?
Here's what we're making:
So here we go, my GIMP-ers! This works on men too. And
don't fret, ask questions if I made you confused!
____________________________________________________________________
001. - Grab this photo of Anne Hathaway. Or use
another you like, I'd rather you do that. Crop it and
all that razzamatazz you'd like to do, just keep it
monotone! I cropped mine to 400 by 400 and resized her
to 400 by 600 (this way you get most of her skin in
the image). Merge to the background if you made a new
layer.
002. - Make a new layer [ctrl+shift+n] and set it to
SOFT LIGHT @ 60%. You can either fill the
entire lawyer with the following colour or take your
"Fuzzy" brush and colour her that way with the colour:
9a6e4f. If you did the entire
fill (I do it that way) erase it on everything save
Anne's skin, period. If you brushed it on, leave it be.

003. - Make another new layer [ctrl+shift+n] and put it
SOFT LIGHT @ 40%. Do the following as
step 002 only with the color:
996666. This makes Anne have a
light blush tinge to her.

004. - Make another new layer [ctrl+shift+n] and set
it to SOFT LIGHT @ 20%. Do the following as
step 002 only with the color: a55231.
I'd advise to brush it on this time, it makes it
easier to look blended right.

(OPTIONAL!) 005. - Taking the layer from steps 003 and 004, go up
to FILTERS and hit Blur->Blur. This makes it a bit
more seamless and skin like. Remember, you don't have to do this
step, I do it for the sole fact that it looks better this way.

006. - Merge everything together, and colourize your
model however else you want. And then tada! You're
done!
Quick tip! - to lighten the skin colour just a fraction more,
make a layer (and do like the others) using the colour
aec7f1. Set at SOFT LIGHT @ 25%,
or lighter. This gives your model a slightly paler look.
I hope I helped, and I'd love to see some results!
