Well, I was bored, and decided to do a colouring
tutorial after I played around with my GIMP earlier.
Here's what we're making:
So here we go, my GIMP-ers! And
don't fret, ask questions if I made you confused!
____________________________________________________________________
001. - Grab this image of Jason Behr. Or use
another you like, I'd rather you do that. Crop it and
all that razzamatazz you'd like to do, just keep it
the same (darker images are the best, it seems)! Use
whatever sizes you want. I went with 400x600. Merge
to the background if you made a new layer.
002. - Set up a new layer [ctrl+shft+n] and using the
LAYERS tool box, set it at 15% opacity - difference.
Taking this colour - 889780,
use the bucket tool to fill the entire graphic.
appears as thus.
003. - Now, repeat step two. But instead take this
colour - 996666, use the bucket
tool to fill the entire graphic.
appears as thus.
004. - Set up a new layer [ctrl+shft+n] and using the
LAYERS tool box, set it at 50% opacity - multiply.
Taking this colour - a55231,
use the bucket tool to fill the entire graphic.
appears as thus.
005. - Now, merge all your layers together and head
up to the FILE toolbar, clicking on Colors - Color
Balance. Type the following in:
Highlights; -10, 0, 10
Midtones; 5, -5, -5
Shadows; 5, 5, -5
Don't forget to click the box saying to PRESERVE LUMINOSITY.
Click OK.
appears as thus.
You can mix and match any varying colours and the
color balance that match your image better now that
you've got the gist!
Here's another example where I substituted step four's
colouring with the color f2a574.
I hope I helped, and I'd love to see some results!
